My pots reflect connection to life and geology in the American South. My work is a physical negotiation with unmoderated materials and collected experience. Searching for useful ceramic material in the local geology demands adventure. In this process, I expose myself to unplanned encounters with wildlife, local people, and defunct infrastructure. Regardless of the function or form, I attempt to relinquish control over how the cultural realities I have come to know are resolved in the making. I am interested in how materials can hold the contradictions of a place in physical form.
